The Carried Away is an English-language literary platform based in the Netherlands, founded by Ashley Fields.

It began as a love of books. It has grown into something larger — a space for readers, writers, and globally minded thinkers who live between cultures, languages, and identities.

At its core, The Carried Away explores stories of transformation. The books that change us. The narratives that help us make sense of migration, memory, myth, and becoming.

Through live literary events, curated conversations, workshops, and author interviews, The Carried Away creates intentional spaces for English-language storytelling in the Netherlands.

Because stories do not stop at borders. And neither do readers.
