How it all started
As most journeys do, The Carried Away started as an idea that continues to blossom as our community grows. Ashley, Camille, Anna Maria, and Iris met each other while in the Master’s program at Utrecht University studying literature. They soon realized that they each shared the same dreams of building a community around books. Their shared love for food solidified the deal.
Our Mission
The Carried Away is a digital indie publishing press, literary agency, and editorial provider. We work closely with both new and established authors and writers to transform their texts from drafts to polished final products.
In a world brimming with countless unique stories and subdued voices, our mission is to illuminate those who have been overlooked— to tell the untold. As a company, our heartfelt desire is to cultivate a community of writers, readers, and dreamers whose voices have been under-appreciated, whose lights have been put to dim, who have been left to feel their stories do not matter.
